Wednesday, February 5th is Winter Walk Day across Canada. It’s the perfect opportunity for parents and kids to get outside together and stretch those legs! Walk to and from school to improve physical and mental health, create a healthier environment, safer streets, make friends and have fun! Walking is the simplest form of exercise and helps kids get the 60 minutes of daily physical activity they need. It’s also a great cure for winter blues and helps students concentrate better in class.
To make your walk even more fun, the St. Augustine EcoTeam has a challenge for you. On your way to school on February 5, make sure to keep your eyes open. If you spot our school logo out in the community, be sure to take a picture of it and post it to Twitter with the hashtag #saugwalks. If you do not have a phone but see a logo on the way to school, see a teacher or EcoTeam member when you arrive at school and ask for a ballot. The ballot can be submitted in the box at the EcoTeam table by the pit. All students who find and submit the logo will be invited to a hot chocolate party that will take place later in February.
