Dear Parents and community members,

Close to 900 pancakes were served to your children this morning! This enormous challenge was accomplished by the wonderful parent volunteers in our St. Augustine School Community! Our students were fed and our kitchen and gym were cleaned up by 11:15 am. (Not an easy feat!)

Shrove Tuesday is a day of celebration as well as penitence, because it is the last day before Lent. Lent is a time of abstinence, a time of going without indulgences so that we may prayerfully remember Jesus’ sacrifice. So Shrove Tuesday is the last chance to indulge yourself, and to use up the foods that aren’t allowed in Lent.

As Lent begins tomorrow, our Catholic School Advisory Council has maintained its tradition of cooking and serving pancakes to all students on the morning of February 25 in celebration of Shrove Tuesday. We thank the wonderful parent volunteers who made this day so successful!

Thanks you also to those who continued to support our eco-initiative and brought in their own reusable plate!

Please consider joining us tomorrow for Ash Wednesday with Father Malcolm at 12:45 pm in our gym.
