Today continues to be a very sad day for the St. Augustine Catholic Elementary School Community as we grieve the loss of a special member of our community, Grade 1 student, Navy Medeiros. Navy passed away Tuesday March 6, 2018 due to a serious illness.
Navy’s spirit is larger than life and we know that she is with Jesus in Heaven. As a community we will continue to celebrate her life and wrap ourselves around the Medeiros Family and extended Paiva family during this most challenging time. May our love, support and prayers be a source of peace and strength for them as they journey through this difficult time.
This letter is meant to both inform our community and guide our students who may be grieving during this challenging time. Children experience many different thoughts and feelings when they are grieving. It will be important for you to have discussions with your child this evening and in the coming days. We are mindful that each of us grieves in different ways and children are best comforted in these moments of sadness by those who are most familiar to them.
Please note the Funeral arrangements as outlined. Nevaeh is resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St. N., Cambridge on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held from St. Clement’s RC Church, 745 Duke St., Cambridge on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
Our Board Compassionate Care Team was consulted by our school and are available for our staff and will be a support to our community going forward. Our Catholic faith is deeply rooted in God’s love, and our faith can be a comfort to us all to restore hope during times of mourning. Please consider the following prayer as a means of support.
Love Lives On
(By Amanda Bradley)
Those we love
are never really lost to us –
we feel them
in so many special ways-
they always cared about
and dreams they left behind,
in beauty that they added to our days…
in words of wisdom we still carry with us –
and memories that never will be gone…
Those we love are never really lost to us –
For everywhere their special love lives on.
God Bless Navy
