Parking Lot Safety Reminder

September 25, 2017

Dear Parents,

At St. Augustine school, the safety of our students is our number one concern. Thank you to the vast majority of parents who adhere to the parking signage and requests of the staff.

We would like to remind everyone that the school parking lot is for school staff /employees and YMCA Child Care employees only. Due to our growing enrollment, the parking lot is at full capacity with staff vehicles.

Please remember that the parking lot is off limits for drop off and pick up of students between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is to allow for 4 school buses to safely drop off and pick up St. Augustine students. Students who are not bussed are considered to live within walking distance and will also be trying to safely walk either to or from school.

The parking lot driveway closest to the YMCA Child Care has a Do Not Enter sign posted as it is for exiting the parking lot only. Please be sure to not use this as an entrance as vehicles will be exiting via this driveway. The parking spaces in that area of the parking lot are for YMCA Child Care staff only and are not intended to be used by parents for drop off or pick up of St. Augustine students.

Please note the City of Cambridge has posted signs indicating No Parking at any time anywhere on Bismark Drive on the same side as the school. In addition, there are No Stopping signs in effect from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Stopping or waiting there for your child is not appropriate and By-law officers will ticket parents who do so. Please wait for your child on the opposite side of Bismark Drive in a designated parking area or on a neighbouring side street where parking is available. The No Parking/ No Stopping signs are there to ensure that students crossing the street have the visibility they require in order to do so safely. Parking and stopping/waiting in those areas compromises pedestrian safety and puts our students and crossing guards at risk.

I would like to thank everyone in advance for your cooperation in following these parking lot procedures to keep our students safe.

Sincerely,

Mrs. TL Geisel
